History and character
St. George was founded in 1814, when its first house was built, and industry was one of the early reasons for the settlement. A train whistle has been a familiar sound there since 1852, and the St. George branch of the County of Brant Public Library was formed in 1879.
The village marked its 200th anniversary in 2014 by creating the St. George Barn Quilt Trail, a self-guided route of painted quilt squares tied to the village's history.
Village life
Listings in St. George describe a walkable village centre with a library, arena, splash pad, parks and schools, plus the yearly St. George Apple Fest. Home types range from older brick houses and custom bungalows to condo bungalows aimed at downsizers.
Schools
Paris District High School serves as a regional secondary school for communities across Brant County, including St. George.
Public English schools in the area are run by the Grand Erie District School Board, and Catholic English schools by the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board. French-language boards also serve the area.
School assignments depend on your exact address and can change. Always confirm the assigned schools for a specific property with the school board before you make an offer.
