History
Delhi grew with the tobacco industry, and for decades the surrounding sandy farmland produced much of Canada's flue-cured tobacco. Immigrants from Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Portugal and elsewhere came to work and buy farms, and many of their cultural clubs remain.
The Delhi Tobacco Museum & Heritage Centre tells this story.
The town today
Delhi is a quiet residential town surrounded by farms, with Big Creek and the Quance Dam area nearby for walking. Farming is still a big part of the local economy, now with more ginseng, fruit and vegetable crops.
Getting around
Delhi is a drive-to-work town. Simcoe, Tillsonburg and Brantford are reachable by car, so test the drive before you buy. See the Commuter Guide for the options.
Schools
Public English schools in the area are run by the Grand Erie District School Board, and Catholic English schools by the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board. French-language boards also serve the area.
School assignments depend on your exact address and can change. Always confirm the assigned schools for a specific property with the school board before you make an offer.
