Life by the lake
The public beach runs along the bay, and Turkey Point Provincial Park, up the hill from the lake, has camping, trails and a golf course. Boating and fishing on Long Point Bay are a big part of summer here.
Buying here: what to check
- Whether the home is winterized and approved for year-round use.
- Water and septic: many properties are not on municipal services.
- Shoreline, flood and erosion rules from the conservation authority.
- Insurance costs for lakeside properties.
Getting around
Simcoe is the nearest larger town for shopping and services. Test the drive to work before you buy. See the Commuter Guide for the options.
Schools
Public English schools in the area are run by the Grand Erie District School Board, and Catholic English schools by the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board. French-language boards also serve the area.
School assignments depend on your exact address and can change. Always confirm the assigned schools for a specific property with the school board before you make an offer.
Who tends to look here
Cottage buyers, retirees and anyone who wants to live near the beach. For current prices and listings, see Jake's Norfolk County page.
